One of the great Divinities of the Brazilian Macumba Tradition, originally from Africa, she rules the rivers and the bloodstream. She is the sweet Goddess of Love, Beauty, and flirtation, but she has a dark side and knows secrets by divination. She holds a fan and a mirror. The ritual fans are unique to her, and serve to cool her divine energy. As a river Goddess, Oshun is shown as a double- tailed mermaid.
